Located at the southernmost edge of the Taebaek Mountain Range, Buyongdae Cliff offers a panoramic view of Hahoe Village from its summit and is considered one of the village’s top scenic spots. The name “Buyongdae” comes from a Chinese classical tale, with “Buyong” meaning lotus. Originally called Bukae, meaning “northern cliff” in reference to its location north of Hahoe, the cliff overlooks the winding Nakdonggang River. Nestled below are historic sites such as Okyeonjeongsa House, Gyeomamjeongsa Pavilion, and Hwacheon Seowon Confucian Academy.
